Liverpool's Sturridge becomes a Sainsbury shopper

Liverpool and England striker Daniel Sturridge has signed a 'long-term partnership' with British supermarket retailer Sainsbury's, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/. The 25-year-old will become the face of several Sainsbury's youth initiatives, including Active Kids, a project previously promoted by another Sainsbury's ambassador in David Beckham.

Sturridge will join existing Sainsbury's ambassadors Ellie Simmonds and Jonnie Peacock, both of them gold medallists at the London 2012 Paralympics, to star in Sainsbury's Active Kids 2015 campaign, which launches in early 2015.

The Liverpool man will also be involved in Sainsbury's activity for Sport Relief, the Sainsbury's School Games, and the Sainsbury's Summer Series with British Athletics.

"Encouraging children to be active and enjoy sport is a real passion of mine. I'm proud to be partnering with Sainsbury's to give children all over the country the opportunity to lead healthier lifestyles," said Sturridge.

"I remember the launch of Active Kids in my school and the difference it made to our PE lessons and look forward to seeing even more children benefit from it."
