Liverpool's Mignolet: No pressure on FA Cup glory for Gerrard

Goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has denied that there is a weight of expectation on the Liverpool squad to win the FA Cup this year for departing captain Steven Gerrard.

If Liverpool happens to win their semi-final fixture against Aston Villa on April 19, Gerrard might play his last game for his beloved Reds on his 35th birthday in the form of the FA Cup final at Wembley on 30 May.

"Nobody is talking about it," said Mignolet.

"Stevie is the first one to acknowledge that. Before we speak about the final, we have got to get through the semi-final and that is only possible after getting through here.

"The only thing we can keep in mind now is how to get past Villa. Then we will see what comes. Villa will be tough.

"He is the first one to acknowledge that we can't have any extra pressure on the team [to give him the dream send-off].

"He won't let us think in a different way. We just want to focus on Villa and the games before that."
