Though he is expected to cast his eye over the A-League players in their five-day training camp in Singapore, Verbeek could end up turning to his European-based players again.
His decision has left the door open for veteran midfielder Harry Kewell. The injury-plagued Liverpool player has not featured for the first team, finding himself playing reserve football.
Verbeek, however, maintains he is not worried about Kewell's lack of first team action at Liverpool.
"No, Harry is playing in every second reserve team game, so he is playing more than he did a few months ago," he told the Sydney Morning Herald.
"So I say it again. Second-team football at Liverpool is still a higher standard than the [Australian] A-League."
But Verbeek added that there will be no place for striker Mark Viduka, who previously featured for Australia in the Asian Cup last July.
"I have made an appointment to see Mark in April, but we don't need him for a game like this," explained the ex-South Korea boss.
