Liverpool youngster Rossiter ‘over the moon’ at Premier League bow

Jordan Rossiter admits he did not expect to make his Premier League debut on Monday night.

The 18-year-old Reds youth academy product came on for the final 10 minutes of the entertaining 0-0 draw with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, marking his first piece of action in England's top flight.

Of his debut, Rossiter told the club's official website: "I found out I was travelling down on Sunday. I didn't expect to be coming on in the last 10 minutes, especially at 0-0. But I was made up, over the moon.

"[Brendan Rodgers] called me and said he wanted me to go on for Lucas, with [James] Milner dropping deep and then me pushing on a bit.

"He said to work hard and enjoy it, and to make sure I kept it tight. We got the result in the end.

"The lads were brilliant. We were thinking 'how aren't we a goal up, or two or three?' Their goalkeeper was man of the match, I thought – that says it all.

"They were brilliant and it's only going to help us going into Saturday and the season."
