Liverpool are ready to smash their wage structure to win the race for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Marco Reus. The Daily Express says Reds boss Brendan Rodgers will lure Reus to Anfield by making him the club's highest paid player of all time.
Liverpool chiefs have given the green-light for Rodgers to offer Reus a contract in excess of £200,000 per-week wages - a considerable increase on his current £60,000 a-week deal.
The likelihood of Reus leaving Borussia Dortmund is growing daily, and Rodgers will be boosted by the news that Jurgen Klopp is pursuing Paris Saint-Germain star Javier Pastore as his replacement.
Manchester City looked to be in pole-position for Reus' signature having made an official enquiry only last week, but City's optimism may be short-lived now Liverpool have declared interest.
The German superstar is contracted until 2017, but a £20m buy-out clause is set to kick in during the summer of 2015, enabling those with financial muscle to poach him from under the noses of Dortmund chiefs.
