Defender Martin Skrtel has stated that Liverpool are desperate to bounce back following their torrid campaign last term.

After a difficult season, Liverpool have moved on to adopt a proactive approach in the transfer market so far and have already completed the signings of no less than five new players.

As a result, a there is a sense of renewed optimism surrounding Liverpool ahead of the upcoming Premier League campaign.

Skrtel is not getting carried away though and has stated that the players will be working hard in order to bounce back during the upcoming campaign.

He told the Liverpool Echo: "When you lose or have a bad season it's an awful feeling.You are sad and disappointed and you don't really want to speak to anyone. I don't kick a wall or shout but it stays with you for a long time.

"I always try to look at why we lost or why I didn't perform well. I think you have to do that because you need to see why something happened. And I know the only place you can change it is out on the training field, so you have to work hard there to improve."
