Liverpool whizkid Harvey Elliott has confirmed turning down Real Madrid while still with Fulham.

As part of their charm offensive, Real offered Elliott the chance to meet with captain Sergio Ramos - an invitation he declined. A Reds fan, Elliott had no interest in meeting the defender after his clash with Mohamed Salah in the 2018 Champions League final.

"Yes it's true. I refused because of what he (Ramos) did to Mo (Salah)," Elliott told the Athletic.

Elliott was at the Champions League final in Kiev and saw Liverpool lose to Real Madrid.

"As a small child, I remember the buzz of walking up the stairs inside Anfield's stands, watching the lights and players warm up - what a sight. My heroes were Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez. I loved watching them. My father was a big fan of Fernando Torres and we had a big poster of him in the house."
