Liverpool turn down Swansea approach for Allen

Liverpool have knocked back Swansea City's offer for Joe Allen, with the Reds set to reassess the midfielder's future at Anfield during the summer.

The Daily Mail is reporting the Swans attempted to lure Allen back to the Liberty Stadium this month as they look to bring in reinforcements to assist with the relegation dog fight they have on their hands.

Allen joined Liverpool from Swansea for £15million in 2012 and is in the final 18 months of his contract with the Merseyside club.

The 25-year-old, who scored the opening goal in Wednesday night's 3-0 FA Cup third round replay win over Exeter City, is receiving little first team opportunities under new manager Jurgen Klopp and may favour a move back to his old stomping ground.
