Liverpool are hoping to sign Juventus midfielder Christian Poulsen.
The 30-year old defensive centreman has been touted as a replacement for the departing Javier Mascherano as Reds boss Roy Hodgson wants to bring him to Anfield in a deal worth £6million.
Once the deal is complete, it will clear the path for Mascherano to reunite with former Reds boss Rafael Benitez at Inter Milan.
Poulsen played under Hodgson back in the FC Copenhagen days, winning the 2000/01 Danish SuperLiga title together.
