Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says the club will have to assess Dejan Lovren before they know more about the injury he sustained on Sunday.
The Croatian defender was forced off late in the 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion after he was cut down by a reckless tackle from Craig Gardner in the second half.
Lovren was treated for some time on the Anfield pitch before he was replaced by Divock Origi who equalised deep into injury-time for the home side who could now be without another key player for some time.
Of the Lovren injury, Klopp said: "He (Gardner) played the ball, a millisecond before he hit Dejan.
"It was like the whole game, on the edge of everything. I am not sure the ref saw it.
"We hope it (Lovren's injury) is not too serious but we have to wait for the scan.
"Everything could have happened in this situation but hopefully we'll have more luck than in previous situations (with injured players)."
He added: "It's a hard situation, he hit him full, but we hope it's not too serious.
"It's a cut, and blue at this moment. We hope it's not too serious."
