Liverpool are set to challenge Italian giants Roma for the signing of Barcelona's Brazilian utility man Adriano.

Sky Italia has reported that the European champions will be willing to accept £3million for the defender, who has fallen out of favour at the Nou Camp.

Brendan Rodgers is keen to strengthen his defence, but will have to act quickly as Roma representatives are reportedly set to meet with Barcelona officials this week regarding the 30-year old who can be deployed as a full-back or in midfield.
