Liverpool survive late scare to see off Guangdong in China

Liverpool have today kicked off their pre-season with a 4-3 win over Chinese club Guangdong Sunray Cave on their Far East tour.

Christian Poulsen opened the scoring with an easy tap-in at the back post before David Ngog got in on the act for a second when he rounded the keeper but the second goal kicked Guangdong into gear as they got one back prior to half-time.

18-year old Conor Coady marked his first piece of senior action when he was played in by Andy Carroll and needed no invitation to hammer past the Guangzhou keeper to make it 3-1.

Carroll got the Reds' fourth late in the match when Maxi Rodriguez played a one-two with the former Newcastle United striker who managed to knock it home from close range to give his side a three-goal boost.

But the home side hit back late through Lu Lin who turned Andre Wisdom in the area before curling past Martin Hansen and then substitute Yin Hongbo made it 4-3 in injury time with a simple finish.
