Liverpool struggling to talk down Blackpool price for Adam

Liverpool face a battle to land Blackpool midfielder Charlie Adam for their desired price.

The Daily Mail says their hopes of signing Adam for around £6.5million may be optimistic with Blackpool still keen to get the best possible deal for their Scotland international even though he has just one year left on contract.

Liverpool offered £7.5m in January but were flabbergasted to hear Blackpool's valuation was £12m. Tottenham narrowly failed in a last-minute attempt to sign him while Manchester United and Everton have also shown interest.

Liverpool is Adam's preferred destination but Blackpool are still looking for around £10m and that could slow down the deal. The structure of his transfer means former club Rangers, manager Ian Holloway, Latvian co-owner Valeri Balokon and Adam are all due a percentage of any fee.

That will leave little left for the club coffers hence their strong bargaining stance.
