Luis Suárez is expected to discover early next week whether he faces sanction from Uefa for an alleged stamp during Liverpool's Europa League exit against Zenit St Petersburg on Thursday, reports The Guardian. Zenit players accused Suárez of stamping on the Slovakian defender Tomas Hubocan in the 88th minute - Suarez caught Hubocan twice after the left-back fell while shepherding the ball out for a goal-kick, but neither the Dutch referee Björn Kuipers or his additional assistant behind the Kop goal deemed the incident deliberate.
Uefa have confirmed, however, that Suárez could face disciplinary action should Kuipers suggest they review the incident in his official match report.
European football's governing body should receive a report within 24 hours of the game, and will decide whether their disciplinary committee is required at the start of next week.
Uefa could then take retrospective action against Suárez and he could be banned for up to three European matches if found guilty of violent conduct.
