Liverpool striker Jota: We'll improve as Nunez improves

Liverpool striker Diogo Jota says they'll improve as Darwin Nunez settles in.

With just three wins from their eight games across all competitions this season, it's been a disappointing opening few weeks for the Reds.

But fit-again Jota believes their form will return when the side start getting the best out of summer Nunez, who joined from Benfica for an initial £64m after Sadio Mane completed a switch to Bayern Munich.

After the Champions League win against Ajax, Jota said: “We had a shaky beginning to the season. There were a lot of enforced changes due to the injuries. But the way we played tonight is the way to move forward. It felt like justice was done with that late goal.

“Darwin didn't play too many games yet with the sending off he got. In contrast Sadio played for this team for a long period and was used to everything. It's quite a big change but if we keep playing like this then it will be easier for Darwin and for everyone.

“Football is always a challenge between us to play in the games, to face different challenges as well. That's life and football and as players you need to respond to that and survive that challenge every day."
