Liverpool have not lost hope in their bid to lure Mario Gotze from Bayern Munich.
The Reds have been showing significant interest in the 24-year-old midfielder in recent weeks before the player himself suggested he would be staying at the Allianz Arena to fight for a first-team spot under new manager Carlo Ancelotti.
However, it is understood that Liverpool sent scouts to watch Gotze in Germany's 2-0 friendly win over Hungary on the weekend, indicating that they could still make a move for Die Mrannschaft's 2014 World Cup hero.
The Merseyside club were also casting an eye over FC Cologne left-back Jonas Hector as Jurgen Klopp continues his search for a quality left-sided defender.
