Liverpool and Tottenham have been boosted in the race for Ajax defender Toby Alderweireld.
The Belgium international has been linked with both Premier League clubs and talked up the prospect of moving to Liverpool earlier this summer.
However, it did appear he would be signing for Spartak Moscow this month, before the Russian club's coach, Valery Karpin, to shut the door on the deal.
"He's not what I'm looking for," said Karpin this morning.
