Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard faces shoulder surgery this summer.

The Daily Mail says the England captain, 32, has been advised to have surgery after Liverpool's final Barclays Premier League game of the season against QPR on May 19.

Gerrard's ongoing problem with his shoulder will come as a massive blow to England's manager, Roy Hodgson, ahead of the two glamour games against the Republic of Ireland and Brazil.
