Liverpool's Rodgers waves away talk of Skrtel sending off

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers brushed off suggestions that Martin Skrtel also should have been shown a red card on Sunday.

?The Reds were reduced to ten men in their eventual 2-1 loss to Manchester United in the 46th minute when Steven Gerrard, who came on as a half-time sub, was sent off for a challenge on Ander Herrera.

?Liverpool, who were beaten at Anfield in the league for the first time since early November, could have ended the match with nine men when central defender Skrtel appeared to lunge at United keeper David de Gea but Rodgers did not agree with that notion.

?"It looks like it when it is slowed down he has caught him with intent. I didn't see it like that. He is trying to get the ball," he said.

"You see his foot up. That is a symbol when a player is just trying to get his toe on the ball because if he does that and the keeper brings him down, it is probably a penalty."??
