Liverpool's Rodgers intent on completing job at historic venue

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is hoping his side can produce a winning result at a historic stadium on Thursday night.

The Reds take on Besiktas at the Ataturk Stadium in the Europa League Round of 32 second leg which is the venue where the Anfield club won the 2005 UEFA Champions League final over AC Milan.

Rodgers' outfit hold a 1-0 lead from the first leg last week and the Northern Irishman is now looking to complete the job of progressing to the next knockout phase of the competition on what could be a memorable night for the Merseyside club.

"Of course it was a great historic night for the club and everyone associated with Liverpool respects that," said Rodgers.

"It was a little while ago and there won't be too many of our players that were involved at that time.

"It's a real iconic stadium for the club and a big part of that history.

"For us to go there and play with a lot of young players and a new squad against a good team, we'll look forward to that.

"We're looking forward to the atmosphere and we want to get the job complete."
