Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson was thrilled with the defensive showing of his side on Wednesday night.

The Reds defeated Blackburn Rovers 1-0 in the FA Cup quarter-final replay at Ewood Park and a lot of the triumph had to do with the performance of Dejan Lovren and Kolo Toure in particular who were alongside Glen Johnson and Alberto Moreno in a back four.

"We've had suspensions and injuries over the last couple of weeks, but we've dealt with it really well," said Henderson on BT Sport. "The people who have come in have done a great job.

"I thought when Kolo came on (for the injured Mamadou Sakho) he was immense at the back, especially towards the end.

"Dejan was brilliant. So it was a great performance and it gives everyone a lift now. We can really kick on to the end of the season."
