Melbourne Victory midfielder Billy Celeski is eagerly anticipating this week's pre-season friendly with Liverpool FC.
The two-time A-League champions take on the 18-time English and five-time European champs at the MCG on Wednesday night AEST and Celeski feels it will be a fantastic experience for all involved.
"It's always going to be difficult with these sorts of teams. It's an opportunity for our young boys to step up and have a go," Celeski told Melbourne radio station 1116 SEN.
"I think it will be good for everyone just to have that experience and see where we're at in terms of our footballing ability. It's just great for the club and for Melbourne as a city."
And Celeski suggested he may even try to get close to Liverpool star Steven Gerrard if the opportunity arises.
"I'm a Liverpool fan so I'm really looking forward to tomorrow night especially," he added.
"It will be fantastic to get near him, he's an idol of mine. I really respect him and enjoy watching him go about his football.
"So if he's sitting on the bench I might just wander over there and just hang around there."
