Liverpool had scouts in Lisbon to cast an eye on Ruben Amorim's Sporting side against Benfica.

The Portuguese club won 2-1 against Benfica in the first leg of the Taca da Liga semi-finals.

The Reds are searching for a new head coach to replace the departing Jurgen Klopp.

While Xabi Alonso, the Bayer Leverkusen head coach, is the favourite for the job, Amorim is one of the candidates as well.

Per The Mirror, Alonso is very much the man that Liverpool are hoping to appoint in the summer.

However, Amorim may be in the running, and he will be hoping to get a chance to interview for the position.
