Liverpool are lining up a bid for Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez.

The Daily Star says the Anfield side have added the forward to a list of players they are keeping tabs on.

Rodriguez, 23, has flourished at St Mary's under new boss Mauricio Pochettino and the Reds have taken note.

He has scored in his last two games, one a stunning solo effort in Southampton's 3-1 win over Liverpool last month.

Rodriguez fits the profile of young players with potential that Liverpool's owners and boss Brendan Rodgers want to bring to Anfield.
