Liverpool to put early-season mistakes right against Everton - Toure

Kolo Toure believes Liverpool will kickstart their season in this weekend's Merseyside derby with Everton.

The Reds host their arch rivals in the Premier League at Anfield on Saturday and centre-back Toure is of the belief that it is the perfect scenario to get back to top form.

Brendan Rodgers' side sit 11th on the league table with three losses from their opening five matches which preceded their narrow win over Championship club Middlesbrough in the Capital One Cup third round on Tuesday night.

In the wake of the epic penalty shooutout, which Liverpool won 14-13 after a 2-2 draw, Toure says the players are now ready to learn from their early-season errors in order to get things back on track.

"We will learn from our mistakes and prepare for what we know will be a tough game," Toure told the Liverpool Echo.

"We beat them 4-0 here last season and I am sure they will know we are really quick going forward.

"I think it will be a tight game but we're at home and we'll look to go out fast. We know winning this one would make a big difference.

"There's a lot riding on it and we need the three points.

"We can't think about any other games coming up, we need to focus on Everton and give everything to this game."

In this fixture last season, Daniel Sturridge scored twice as the Reds produced a four-goal thrashing of the Toffees following a thrilling 3-3 draw at Goodison Park which saw Sturridge net a late equaliser earlier in the term in November.
