Liverpool came from a goal down to eventually triumph 3-1 away to Unirea Urziceni in Romania. The Reds are now in the last 16 of the Europa League with a comfortable win but only after gifting Unirea the lead with some woeful defending after 18 minutes allowed Joao Bruno Fernandes to score.
But Liverpool rallied and were back in front by the break.
Javier Mascherano equalised with a fine long-range drive and Ryan Babel controlled and fired home a second on 40 minutes.
Steven Gerrard secured their passage into the next round, and a date against either Lille or Fenerbahce, by slotting a third in the second half.
