Liverpool midfielder Wijnaldum responds to Barcelona interest: We'll see in 10 months

Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum has said there was no serious chance of him joining Barcelona this past summer.

The Netherlands international was linked with a reunion with former national team boss Ronald Koeman at the Camp Nou.

While Wijnaldum insists he 'didn't have to think about' leaving Anfield, he admitted things could change when his contract expires next year.

Speaking at a press conference on international duty today, he said: "I don't think [the Barcelona interest] was that serious, otherwise you would have read a bit more, or more would have happened.

"There was nothing concrete. I didn't have to think about it.

"I will stay on [with Liverpool] it looks like now. My contract will run for another 10 months.

"It could still change, of course you never know that in football. So we'll see."
