Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic has been likened to German hero Steffen Effenberg.

Hertha Berlin manager Pal Dardai made the call as Grujic continues to impress for his loan club.

The Serb has made 14 Bundesliga appearances for Hertha so far this season and has clearly made a big impact at the club as it is not the first time he has been praised.

“I've never had a midfielder like Marko Grujic before. For me, he's the new Stefan Effenberg," Dardai said.

“He was tall, too, but very safe on the ball despite that, and he always knew when to calm down the team, when to go into a duel and when to move forward. You either have that ability or you don't."

Told of his coach's opinion, Grujic said: “These are big words for me. He's (Effenberg) a huge name."
