Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp rejected Dejan Lovren's exit from the club this summer.
Lovren was on the verge of joining Roma after falling out of favour with Klopp.
But the Mirror says Klopp had a change of heart regarding the Croatian's future.
The German was worried about being light on centre-back options throughout the season.
Joel Matip, Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez are Klopp's other recognised stoppers.
