Liverpool are being linked with off contract Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes. Valdes, who comes off contract next week, is recovering from knee surgery, which has raised doubts over his pre-contract with AS Monaco.
Indeed, Monaco are now backing away from the agreement, though Valdes' camp insists he will soon undergo a medical with the French club.
Meanwhile, Sport says Liverpool are in touch about bringing Valdes to Merseyside next season.
The 32 year-old would arrive to compete with Simon Mignolet for the No1 spot and also end doubts about Pepe Reina moving on this summer.
