Liverpool have lost Joe Allen for the season.

The Daily Mail says Allen will have surgery on his shoulder this week that will rule him out for the remainder of the season.

The Liverpool midfielder withdrew from Wales' squad for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers against Scotland and Croatia and will now have an operation to correct a problem that has been troubling him since the autumn.
