Steven Gerrard has been named new coach of Al-Ettifaq.

The Saudi Pro League club announced Gerrard's appointment today, though no details regarding the length of contract were disclosed.

Gerrard began talks with Al-Ettifaq almost a month ago, with the deal appearing off last week. But talks resumed over the weekend and an agreement was reached today.

Former Liverpool captain Gerrard was in Saudi Arabia a fortnight ago for talks with Al-Ettifaq directors.

Gerrard is a free agent after being sacked by Aston Villa in October.
