Liverpool legend Steve Nicol has urged his old club to forget about signing Arsenal attacker Theo Walcott.

Walcott is being linked with a January move to Anfield.

But Nicol told the Daily Star: "Liverpool need players who are proven and Walcott is not proven.

"He is not consistent. And what Liverpool don't need now is another inconsistent player. You need someone who will get you goals every match and you know what you are going to get.

"That's not something you can say about Theo."
