Liverpool legend Ray Houghton fears Luis Suarez could quit England after copping his ten match ban yesterday. Suarez received a ten-game ban from the FA for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.
Houghton told talkSPORT: "I've got to be honest, I was staggered when I heard the punishment was a ten-game ban.
"He got seven when he was in Holland [for biting Otoman Bakkal] and I thought it would be roughly the same this time. With it being three more maybe the FA are coming out and saying it is totally unacceptable. They want to make sure it doesn't happen again.
"But Jermain Defoe was involved in something a few years ago and nothing happened there so it seems fairly excessive.
"Next season is a huge season for the club. Liverpool have got to compete for a top four position. The end of this campaign is a honeymoon period for Brendan Rodgers to try and figure out how he wants the team to play tactically and make sure he knows the best players for next season.
"Suarez is a massive player for Liverpool. The club have got big decisions to make and he has got a big decision to make whether it's worthwhile staying here, or if he should move on."
