Liverpool legend Alan Hansen says Arsenal must smash their prudent transfer policy and start to spend big. Hansen wrote in the Telegraph: "From a business sense, you have to admire Arsenal's approach. They are well run, they do not pay over the odds for players and the club are clearly not prepared to risk their financial well-being by attempting to compete with Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United in the transfer market.
"But if Arsenal ever want to get back to the top tier of English football, as a club capable of winning the title again, they have to draw a line under their prudent philosophy and start spending money on better players."
