Liverpool legend Fowler sought out matchwinner Mane after victory at Aston Villa

Robbie Fowler sought out Sadio Mane after Liverpool's victory at Aston Villa last night.

Mane proved the matchwinner as the Reds won 2-1 to return level on points with Premier League leaders Manchester City.

The Liverpool Echo says Mane was struggled to get down the tunnel after the final whistle. First, he was almost swept off his feet by a massive bear hug from Jurgen Klopp.

Next came an embrace with Fowler standing by the touchline. And then, nearly out of sight, the Senegalese was almost completely enveloped by an ecstatic Alisson Becker who then gave his team-mate a few celebratory shakes.

Speaking to Sky Sports about his winning goal, Mane said: "I think it was possible because it was a good cross from (Luis) Diaz. I just needed to put it into the net, even without power, I usually try and score and normally I do. H e (Diaz) is a very good player. We know each other very well, we train everyday, and I know that when he has got the ball I know where he is going to put it."
