Liverpool legend John Aldridge is confident Steven Gerrard won't leave for a Premier League rival.

Gerrard 34, has been linked with a move to MLS side New York Red Bulls, but Aldridge reckons the one-club man will stay at Anfield beyond the summer.

"If Stevie was to move I'm sure it wouldn't be to another English club. I hope that doesn't happen," the Irishman told the Mirror, speaking on behalf of official FA Cup sponsor William Hill.

"For me, he's Liverpool's best player of all time and will still be there next season. He's a leader in the dressing room and on the pitch."
