Liverpool keeper Adrian hails PSG signing Wijnaldum: World class on and off pitch

Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian is full of praise for departing teammate Gini Wijnaldum.

The Holland midfielder has agreed Bosman terms with Paris Saint Germain as he comes off contract with the Reds next week. Wijnaldum captained his country in defeat to the Czech Republic in last night's Euro 2020 round of 16 clash in Budapest.

Adrian says Wijnaldum leaves Anfield with everyone's best wishes, declaring the midfielder a popular member of the dressing room.

The Spanish goalkeeper, himself, was due to come off contract at the end of this month before he penned a new one-year deal last week.

Adrian told Marca via Foot Mercato: "What about Wijnaldum with what he showed in Liverpool and now at the Euro? Gigi is an extremely versatile. He can play in a double pivot, as a defensive midfielder ... and even as a playmaker, as he currently is with the Netherlands. He's a complete player.

"Technically good, fast, strong and, above all, he has a sense of purpose. He always likes to finish moves close to the goal. But I will take another facet: he is a born fighter who works for the team and does not lose a ball."

Adrian admits Wijnaldum will be missed as he departs for Paris Saint Germain. The Dutchman was firmly established as one of the senior leaders inside Jurgen Klopp's squad.

The goalkeeper added, "Since his arrival, he has forged a great reputation. Just look at Anfield's farewell to him. Off the field, he's 'top'. As they say in England, he is a 'world class' player as a footballer and as a person."

This past season former Newcastle United Wijnaldum managed 51 appearances for the Reds, scoring three goals.
