Liverpool have joined Arsenal in the pursuit of Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh.
Both clubs are able to open pre-contract talks with the Morocco international who will become a free agent in the summer and it seems he is keen on a move away from France's Ligue 1.
Rafael Benitez has now made his intentions clear as he targets a new striker and has moved in on Arsene Wenger's territory after the Arsenal boss almost had a stranglehold on signing the 25-year old who is hoping to sort his future out now although he will not be able to make the move until the end of the season.
