Liverpool hero Houghton hails Kelly contribution in victory at Chelsea

Liverpool hero Ray Houghton hailed Kenny Dalglish's wing-backs in victory at Chelsea.

Houghton heaped praise on youngster Martin Kelly and Glen Johnson in the 1-0 win.

Houghton told liverpoolfc.tv: "They played three centre backs versus Stoke and it worked. I think that was maybe a precursor to what he (Kenny Dalglish) wanted to do against Chelsea.

"He wanted to try that out and see how effective it was. It wasn't just the fact Jamie (Carragher) was back, the lad Kelly at right wing back and Johnson down the left were massive.

"The two full-backs give Chelsea their width and Liverpool stopped that. Ashley Cole in particular is usually sensational at Stamford Bridge but he didn't have a kick going forward.

"He didn't get one cross into the box in the whole 90 minutes and that was down to Kelly.

"On the other side, Johnson did it with Bosingwa."
