Liverpool are planning a three-year contract offer for Martin Skrtel.
The Sunday Mirror says Skrtel is heading towards the final 12 months of his current deal and has been attracting interest from Napoli, bossed by former Anfield manager Rafa Benitez, and from Germany's Wolfsburg.
But club officials realise how crucial it is that the 30-year-old remains at the club, so are moving quickly to put their new terms in front of him.
Skrtel joined Liverpool in 2008 from Russian side Zenit St Petersburg and has become an important figure within the dressing room.
