Liverpool defender Glen Johnson isn't surprised by the successful impact of manager Brendan Rodgers.
Johnson previously worked with Rodgers at Chelsea.
He said: "He was very much involved back then. The way the set-up was, we used to see a lot of the youth team and the youth-team coaches.
"I used to speak to Brendan quite regularly then. We were as close then as we are now. Brendan was always among the first team when he was there.
"He took some of the training sessions and would always work closely with Jose Mourinho and you could see that in training. It is pretty similar.
"I always thought he had the potential if that was what he wanted. Obviously, I didn't know what his aims were but you could see, the way he was with the players, that he clearly loved his football.
"He loved helping people and enjoyed seeing them improve as well. You could see he had the main attributes there if he wanted to go on and do it.
"And he did - and it didn't surprise me at all."
