Liverpool fullback Trent Alexander-Arnold has highlighted the example Dejan Lovren sets for the rest of the squad.

Alexander-Arnold has cited Dejan Lovren as the perfect example of a Liverpool player maintaining a high level of form to take a chance in Klopp's side when the opportunity presents itself.

Lovren was limited to just 15 starts in all competitions last term and was behind Joe Gomez and Joel Matip in the pecking order before returning to the team to start four of the last six games.

"When you aren't playing, it is difficult because you feel the manager has his XI and there is not a lot you can do to get into it," he said.

"But, opportunities will come and the biggest example of that is probably Dejan at the minute. He was probably not playing as much as he wanted last season and was disappointed and the start of this season.

"It was the same again but he was given his chance and he has taken it. He is performing really well and helping us get points.

"He is a great example for all lads who are not playing as much as they want to and they have to be ready for the opportunity because when it comes, they have to take it."
