Liverpool fear bad Gerrard reaction if Torres sold to Chelsea

Liverpool have concerns over how Steven Gerrard will react to the club selling Fernando Torres to Chelsea.

The Daily Star Sunday says the new worry for Liverpool, in the process of wrapping up their own record deal at £23m for Luis Suarez, 24, from Ajax, is how skipper Gerrard would react to the sale of Torres.

There is concern it could leave the England midfielder unsettled and wondering about the club's ambition. But Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has signalled his intent to buy big again - and that development has not been lost on Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Fergie said: "Chelsea haven't been doing a lot of big buying for a long time - so they mean business."
