Liverpool are tracking Rapid Wien defender Maximilian Hofmann.

The youngster is regarded highly by Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, who has discussed signing the centre-half with Liverpool's top brass.

Klopp was aware of Hofmann when in charge of Borussia Dortmund and has maintained a watching brief since moving to England.

BVB remain keen on the 22 year-old, along with Bundesliga rivals Bayer Leverkusen and Hamburg.

Hofmann is tied to Rapid until 2017.
