Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson is believed to be keen on Wigan left-back Maynor Figueroa and reportedly plans to beat Sunderland to the punch.
The Honduras international is attracting plenty of interest following his positive performances in all three of his nations World Cup group stage matches and he has now become a firm target for the Reds.
Sunderland boss Steve Bruce attempted to reunite with the 27-year old last season but a potential deal fell through and now Hodgson is ready to come in for the £6million-rated defender to try and clinch him from under the Black Cats boss' nose.
