Liverpool are readying a summer bid to land Christian Benteke from Aston Villa.

The Telegraph reports that Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is prepared to part with more than £30million for the Belgian striker as he looks to rebuild his squad ahead of the 2015/16 Premier League season.

Benteke has rediscovered his best form under Tim Sherwood with eight goals in his last seven appearances which has attracted the interest of Liverpool.

The former Genk star is contracted with Villa until the summer of 2017 and only a massive bid would prompt the West Midlands club to even ponder an off-season sale.
