Liverpool defender Joe Gomez admits the captaincy has changed Virgil Van Dijk for the better.
The Netherlands centre half has taken the armband at the Anfield club this season.
He took over from midfielder Jordan Henderson, who left for the Saudi Pro League.
"I think it would change anyone," replied Gomez to Sky Sports on Van Dijk being changed since becoming captain.
"His stature spoke for itself but I think naturally there is more of a spotlight on it when you're captain. I think we lost a lot of key figures last summer. The likes of Hendo, Millie and Fab are going to be part of the history of the club forever.
"But seeing how he has taken it on his shoulders, he's always done that with all the expectation that has fallen on him with his achievements.
“But I think doing that as a captain and being the sole leader of this club is big, and it's hard to measure until you're in those shoes. So seeing him take it on so well has been really impressive."
