Liverpool defender Toure avoids driving ban thanks to his celebrity!

Liverpool defender Kolo Toure has avoided a driving ban thanks to his celebrity!

The Mirror says Toure has avoided a driving ban after his lawyers argued he was too famous to take public transport and fans would mob him - and even possibly push him under a train.

Lawyers argued that the Anfield star could be put at risk if he was forced to take public transport and that his soon-to-expire Liverpool contract should also be considered a mitigating factor.

Lisa Wilson, who defended Toure at Warrington Crown Court, said: "Using public transport like buses or trains often leads to a surge of people which is an issue to him and the public.

"If that happened on the train track, someone could be pushed under the train by accident, or under cars on the road."

Magistrates fined the defender £660, with court costs of £300 and put eight penalty points on his licence.
