Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold says Ashley Cole transformed the way fullbacks are regarded.

Alexander-Arnold admits he focuses on attacking as a fullback thanks to the Chelsea icon.

He declared to Sportbladet: "In the past, fullbacks were traditionally more defensive, rarely followed up or scored for their part.

"But then Ashley came and now offensive backs are common. It's nice to see, and everything is thanks to him."

Alexander-Arnold, at just 21, has already won the Champions League, Uefa Super Cup and now the Club World Cup.

He added: "Yes, it hasn't really sunk in yet. But I should not complain. I am proud of myself, of course."
